Abstract
The uniqueness of the Qur’anic language is reflected not only in the beauty of its wording but also in the precision of word choice, linguistic structure, and the relationship between form and meaning. Surah Al-Humazah is selected because, despite consisting of only nine verses, it contains dense linguistic elements in describing human character, attitudes toward wealth, and the punishment received by those who engage in such behavior. This study aims to analyze the manifestation of I’jāz lughawī in Surah Al-Humazah through semantic, syntactic, and rhetorical aspects. This study employs library research with a qualitative-descriptive approach. The data are analyzed through an examination of words, expressions, and verse structures in Surah Al-Humazah using the Qur’an, books of Qur’anic exegesis, scholarly books, journal articles, and relevant previous studies. The findings indicate that the manifestation of I‘jāz lughawī in Surah Al-Humazah is reflected in the precision of word choice, interconnected meanings, syntactic structure, and rhetorical strength in conveying the message. Expressions such as هُمَزَةٍ لُمَزَةٍ, جَمَعَ مَالًا وَعَدَّدَهُ, أَخْلَدَهُ, and الْحُطَمَةِ demonstrate the precision of Qur’anic diction in portraying human character and behavior. Meanwhile, the use of كَلَّا and لَيُنْبَذَنَّ, along with the sequential depiction of punishment, demonstrates rhetorical strength in constructing the message progressively. Thus, I‘jāz lughawī in Surah Al-Humazah is manifested through the integration of wording, meaning, and linguistic structure, enabling the surah to convey broad and profound meanings through concise and powerful expressions.
