Abstract
This research is motivated by the decreasing work motivation among laborers at PT. Jalur Nugraha Ekakurir (JNE) Branch Rantauprapat. The aim of this study is to determine whether there is an influence of wage adequacy and work discipline on work motivation of laborers and to describe the Islamic economic perspective on the variables of wage adequacy, work discipline, and work motivation of laborers at PT. Jalur Nugraha Ekakurir (JNE) Branch Rantauprapat. The research method employed in this study is quantitative method with a population of 56 and a sample size of 56 respondents. The sampling technique used is saturation sampling or taking samples as a whole. The data used consist of primary data in the form of questionnaires and interview results. Meanwhile, secondary data are sourced from books, journals, and other publications. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression with the assistance of IBM SPSS 26 application. The results of the multiple linear regression testing obtained the equation Y = 5.902 + 0.007X1 + 0.680X2 + e. The partial testing results show that the t-value for wage adequacy is 0.044 < t-table 2.005 with a significance level (sig) of 0.965 > 0.05, indicating no positive and significant influence on work motivation. Meanwhile, the t-value for work discipline is 6.504 > t-table 2.005 with a significance level (sig) of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a positive and significant influence on work motivation. Furthermore, the simultaneous hypothesis testing resulted in an F-value of 26.174 > F-table 4.02 with a significance level (sig) of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that wage adequacy and work discipline have a positive and significant influence on work motivation. The coefficient of determination test results show a contribution of 49.7% in influencing the dependent variable, while the remaining 50.3% is influenced by other variables outside the scope of this study. From the perspective of Islamic economics, it is observed that the wages of laborers at JNE Branch Rantauprapat are in accordance with Islamic economic principles as they are provided according to the initial agreement, transparent, and free from unfairness, and laborers adhere to the regulations of the company. Regarding the work motivation of laborers, it aligns with the principles of Islamic economics, which emphasize working with good intentions, dedication, and sincerity. However, there are some aspects that do not fully align with the principles of Islamic economics, such as occasional tardiness and lack of work discipline among laborers.
