School mosque management is the process of organizing and administering a mosque within an educational environment to support religious activities and foster the development of students’ Islamic character. A school mosque functions not only as a place of worship but also as a center for students’ spiritual, moral, and social development. Therefore, well-planned and systematic management is essential to optimize the role of the school mosque.
This study aims to describe the management of the school mosque, its implementation in shaping students’ Islamic character, and to identify the supporting and inhibiting factors. The research was conducted at SMAN 01 Cileungsi using a descriptive qualitative approach with a field research design. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, and then analyzed systematically to obtain a comprehensive understanding of the findings.
The results indicate that the management of the school mosque is carried out independently and transparently by applying management functions, namely planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating. The implementation of mosque management in shaping students’ Islamic character is realized through habituation activities such as congregational prayers, Islamic studies, and other religious programs that internalize values of discipline, responsibility, and religiosity. Supporting factors include the involvement of school stakeholders, competent religious mentors, and transparent management practices. Meanwhile, the inhibiting factors consist of limited funding, less optimal activity planning, uneven teacher participation, and the diverse characteristics of students.
