ANALISIS PENAMAAN DAN KARAKTERISTIK SURAH AN-NISA DALAM PERSPEKTIF ULUMUL QURAN

Abstract

Surah An-Nisa is the second longest Madaniyyah surah full of basic social and family rules. From the perspective of Ulumul Quran, this study looks at the causes behind its name (tasmiyah), alternate names like An-Nisa' Al-Kubra, and looks at its thematic and structural elements. First, this study reveals, using a descriptive-analytical approach together with classical and modern sources, the title "An-Nisa'" (along with the alternative name An-Nisa' Al-Kubra) arises from the prominence of debates on civil rights protection and respect for women—issues ignored during the pre-Islamic era. Second, the surah shows a great deal of attention to legal issues (ayat al-ahkam), therefore including components of distributive justice, religious beliefs, and moral issues for mankind. This study confirms that these components mirror universal ideas of justice as offered in Islam.
